Clean Beaches Week is July 1-7! It’s an entire week every year that is dedicated to celebrating our beautiful beaches and highlighting the importance of keeping them clean. Here in Maine (where our team is headquartered) we have some absolutely gorgeous beaches, so this idea hits close to home! Every time I step foot on a beach, I’m reminded just how incredible planet Earth is and how lucky I live where I do.
Some say that Clean Beaches Week combines the spirit of Earth Day with the fun of the 4th of July, and I must agree! It gets people outside while educating them on how to enjoy nature responsibly and respectfully. The 4th of July is a fun and popular day on many beaches, but sadly that also means that it results in a lot of litter on the shores. Clean Beaches Week is perfectly timed to help mitigate some of the destruction caused by the parties and picnics! Overall, it’s a positive and fun experience that is easy to take part in! Just head to the beach with the intention of picking up any garbage or litter you see around you. This is a great practice to get into all year around, not just this week!
