Subsequently, Chloe and the CAC gained <a href=\"http:\/\/laclimateaction.webs.com\/media.htm\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\">recognition<\/a> by the Sundance Channel, MTV, and others.\u00a0 The project began with a video, and then a pledge page (to pled<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">ge the use of reusable bags). <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">From there, it blossomed into a full-blown campaign. Their goal? Reduce the use of plastic bags in Damariscotta by distributing town-wide custom-imprinted reusable bags. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bulletinbag.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/image2.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-422\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bulletinbag.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/image2-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"image2\" width=\"625\" height=\"468\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.bulletinbag.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/image2-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.bulletinbag.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/image2-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.bulletinbag.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/image2-624x468.jpg 624w, https:\/\/www.bulletinbag.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/image2.jpg 1600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 625px) 100vw, 625px\" \/><\/a>The CAC, together with local businesses, organizations, and individuals, sponsor the bags in exchange for their logo imprinted on each reusable bag. The CAC led a very successful merchant&#8217;s meeting last March to discuss their campaign with local merchants Former Maine Representative Ted Koffman and reusable bag expert Suzette Bergeron of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bulletinbag.com\/about-us.html\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\">Bulletin Bag<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>In the weeks following the meeting, support for a town-wide reusable bag initiative was determined&#8211;with merchants agreeing to work with the CAC to create awareness and help distribute the bags and create awareness. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bulletinbag.com\/about-us.html\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\">Bulletin Bag<\/a> helped Chloe weed through all of the bag options and designed the logo-imprint layout, which was a challenge because many logos had to fit into a small imprint area.<\/p>\n<p>Two months later, the CAC had raised $4,300 to buy 1,900 reusable bags to be used as a fundraiser to further support the efforts of the group.\u00a0 The CAC also collaborated with a local 5th grade class who purchased 100 bags from the CAC, and then donated them to a local food pantry.\u00a0 The food pantry plans to give out the bags to its customers.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bulletinbag.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/bags.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-195\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bulletinbag.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/bags-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"bags\" width=\"625\" height=\"468\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.bulletinbag.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/bags-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.bulletinbag.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/bags-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.bulletinbag.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/bags-624x468.jpg 624w, https:\/\/www.bulletinbag.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/bags.jpg 1600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 625px) 100vw, 625px\" \/><\/a>This custom-imprinted reusable bag campaign is ripe for success since the program also offers long-term marketing benefits to the merchants and organizations involved. Participating merchants have their logo permanently printed on the bags.\u00a0 The person who makes household purchasing decisions will see this unique &#8216;advertisement&#8217; at least once a week.
