Clean Beaches Week is July 1-7! It\u2019s an entire week every year that is dedicated to celebrating our beautiful beaches and highlighting the importance of keeping them clean. Here in Maine (where our team is headquartered) we have some absolutely gorgeous beaches, so this idea hits close to home! Every time I step foot on a beach, I\u2019m reminded just how incredible planet Earth is and how lucky I live where I do.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Some say that Clean Beaches Week combines the spirit of Earth Day with the fun of the 4th of July, and I must agree! It gets people outside while educating them on how to enjoy nature responsibly and respectfully. The 4th<\/sup> of July is a fun and popular day on many beaches, but sadly that also means that it results in a lot of litter on the shores. Clean Beaches Week is perfectly timed to help mitigate some of the destruction caused by the parties and picnics! Overall, it\u2019s a positive and fun experience that is easy to take part in! Just head to the beach with the intention of picking up any garbage or litter you see around you. This is a great practice to get into all year around, not just this week!<\/p>\n Overall, Clean Beaches Week reminds us how important it is to refrain from using single-use plastics in our daily lives. What may seem like a minor choice for us, can actually have huge impact on the wellbeing of our world. Plastic has been found in 59% of seabirds, 100% of sea turtle species, and more than 25% of fish sampled from seafood markets around the world. In other words, this is a serious problem \u2026but thankfully it has simple solution!<\/p>\n
